Our MD reflects on the business reaching its 10-year milestone.



10 years ago today I founded Howe Chartered Surveyors – it’s an overused phrase but it’s been a ‘journey’…!

We have grown significantly over the last ten years, in terms of our staff, our offices and our services as a multi-disciplinary property consultancy. With growth comes the challenge of maintaining quality of service, and we have overcome this by employing staff who share our values of integrity and team spirit, and who take pride and accountability in their work.

We are lucky to have such a high level of talent at HCS and I believe the reason we are able to attract and retain such great staff is, in part, down to the mentoring and training we provide, teaching junior employees the right way to do things and leading by example.

Our approach at HCS is to encourage a positive working environment for our team and prove that we genuinely care. We believe job security, a supportive and mindful team culture, and opportunities to enjoy each other’s company outside of the office are paramount to a productive and happy team.

Looking back over the past 10 years some of the notable achievements have been the opening of the Essex and Kent offices, numerous business awards including at the prestigious News on the Block Property Management Awards, and our expansion into the Architectural Design and Valuation sectors.

When starting a business you have an idea of your projected aims and goals, but I can honestly say we are a much more stable, professional, and credible firm at 10 years than I could have ever hoped for. I couldn’t be happier with the current shape and position of the company and very much look forward to ‘Phase 2’ of the HCS journey.



Our goals are to continue to grow the business whilst maintaining the reputation we have worked hard to build.  This means consistently delivering a quality, professional service in a timely fashion whether we are working for a large corporate or a private homeowner.

A fundamental part of creating a successful business is supporting local charities and other community partners both financially and via participation. We will be increasing our involvement proportionately as we grow over the coming years. We’re excited to build new relationships and set down new community roots in Billericay with the relocation of our Essex office.

In closing I would like to thank all our clients, consultants, suppliers, and staff who have contributed to our success, past and present, with special thanks to Caroline, Spencer, Dan, Steve and Natasha for their long-standing commitment and influence on the business.

We will be holding an event to celebrate this milestone in the New Year and hope to see you there.
