Season’s Greetings from HCS
December 23, 2019
As we say goodbye to 2019, we have taken a moment to reflect on this successful year with great pride and thanks.
Our Team
2019 has been a year of change. Although we sadly said goodbye to a couple of members of our team, both colleagues and friends to many of us, we also welcomed Cally Raynor from the USA, as our Head of Business Development. Cally has shone through her time with us, brightening the office as well as our new and existing clients and contacts.
Work Experience
As part of our company wide goal to demystify Building Surveying and encourage this creative, rewarding career path, we took on two work experience candidates and participated at the Brentwood School Careers Convention. At the convention, we showcased the role of Building Surveyor and gained a great deal interest from both young men and women – a valuable opportunity to encourage young women into this stereotypically male-dominated industry.
Events
Our social calendar has been a busy one. From a few drinks on a Friday night with lots of dancing to Junkyard golf, the HCS team have enjoyed many occasions to let our hair down. As much as the HCS team loves a good time, we also love a good cause. From sponsoring the Brentwood Cricket Club PCA’s and sharing a table with the legendary Monty Panesar, donating to SNAP Charity, promoting community wellness with our HCS Cycle Club, and attending the Robin Cancer Trust Charity Ball, we have built momentum in giving back to the community – a momentum we aim to keep with new projects as we launch into 2020.
Some events in 2019 were all about business, and it was these events that we really to unleash our professional skills. HCS were bronze sponsors at the Brentwood Business Showcase, a fantastic local event attended by Brentwood’s best and brightest companies. We joined forces with Bolt Burden and Click Rooftop Developments to present to a varied audience of solicitors, property managers, contractors and other professions on the topics of Section 20 works and Licences to Alter. A hugely successful and educational event for all taking part!
More recently, we gathered our red hard hats, hi viz, and a dose of merriness to battle the wind and join Shenfield high street with our Lego house at the Christmas Fayre, where we raised £81.73 for SNAP Charity. It was the perfect start to the Christmas season.
Noteworthy Surveyors
2019 has been a record year for us in our survey sector, with numbers of Homebuyer and Building Surveys at our most to date! Enquires continue to grow and we are lucky to have secured new, exciting project work for 2020.
We have completed many interesting schemes during 2019 such as schedules of condition at Tilbury Fort, a redevelopment project turning a high street property into a commercial space below and flats above, a survey on a Grand Design’s featuring property, and pre-acquisition surveys for a number of our fellow local business connections.
As many of you will know, our hard work and dedication has been rewarded in 2019, with HCS awarded at both the Brentwood Business Awards and News on the Block Property Management Awards.
Our Managing Director, Christian Howe, has been named the 2019 Brentwood Business Person of the Year, a well-deserved title for his hard work and dedication to the company and clients.
HCS were named the Runner Up Brentwood Business of the Year and a finalist in the Small to Medium Business of the Year, both amazing achievements for our team and company.
We were also thrilled to win the NOTB Professional Services Provider of the Year award at the Property Management Awards, another fantastic achievement for our proud team. Being named a Finalist in the Professional Services Team of the Year category at the Property Week Management All Stars was a great honour for us as well.
The New Year
In all, 2019 has been an incredible year for us at HCS and we are so excited to see what 2020 has in store. We are all looking forward to a well-deserved break over the Christmas period, to re-charge ready to enter the new year.
So, from us all at HCS, we thank you for all of the support, business, and encouragement we continue to receive. From me personally, a huge thank you to the whole team for being such a delight to work alongside.
Here’s a question for you as we hurdle towards a new decade… HOWE can we help you start the 20’s with a roar?
While you think on that, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
